ASET instrument

While at a recent jewelry trade show, I had the pleasure of meeting Jim Caudill, director of the Advanced Instruments Division of the American Gem Society (AGS). Jim is the inventor of the Angular Spectrum Evaluation Tool or ASET. Jim's enthusiasm and passion for the ASET and diamonds in general is obvious and contagious. I was so impressed with his presentation that I purchased an ASET. It has been a wonderful investment.

The ASET evaluates the optical performance, or cut, of diamonds. The cut of a diamond, and how it reflects light to the viewer's eye is possibly the most important characteristic of a diamond's beauty. The beauty of the ASET, and what makes it so easy to use, is its simplicity. It color codes light performance based on intensity. The more red you see in the diamond the better. The more green, black, and white, the less desirable the diamond's cut.

At Spiegel and Son Jewelers we take the responsibility of selling diamonds very seriously. We are discriminating and want our clients to get the absolute best. We will go the extra mile to make sure our valued clients get a magnificent diamond that they will cherish and wear for a lifetime. The ASET is just one example of how we set ourselves apart from our competition. Please check out the following tutorial on the ASET and feel free to contact me with any questions. For a personal demonstration you are always welcome to stop in.
