I am often asked what is the best way to sell antique or family heirloom jewelry. There are many reasons why you may want to sell an older piece of jewelry: Sometimes the style of the item does not match your look, or perhaps you would rather have money than the jewelry to help send your child or grandchild to college. Whatever your motivation, as a jewelry professional it is my duty to help you get the most money for your jewelry.

When you bring your jewelry to my office I will inspect it and together we will formulate a plan to sell your item. If you need to sell the item quickly, I can show the piece to my network of jeweler friends. Within a couple of days we will get several competing offers and be able to select the highest one. If you have more time to complete the transaction you might want to consider having a formal appraisal done on the jewelry. An accurate, thorough appraisal can only help to add value, especially if we are dealing with something of high quality.  Appraising jewelry is a service offered at Spiegel and Son. Once the item is appraised we can determine a fair asking price for it. We can then decide the best avenue to sell the item. Some options include leaving the piece with me on consignment, sending the jewelry to an auction house, or you trying to sell the piece to one of your friends.

I recently had a client who owned a beautiful, but dated colored gem ring. After letting me get offers on it from my network and having me appraise it, she was able to sell the ring to one of her friends. The transaction worked out great for everyone. My client got more money from her friend than from anyone in my network. Her friend got an amazing ring at a price below market value.BR470-new
